Description of 6 Roles



Curriculum Review Team

Group of students (number to be determined by teacher)

Students create a review of the curriculum demonstrating a deeper understanding of the content.

Students can present using various mediums, such as Podcasting, Journler, etc.


Design Team

Group of students (number to be determined by teacher)

Students create tutorials for the class related to a concept or skill taught within the unit.

Students can present using various mediums, such as Jing, Pages, iMovie, etc.


Global Communication Team

Group of students (number to be determined by teacher)

Students communicate with experts in the field. Experts can be scientists, authors, mathematicians or people of a region.

Students may use Skype, iSight, e-mail, discussion forums (i.e. Ask an Expert), etc.


Official Scribes

1-2 students (number to be determined by teacher)

Students take notes on lessons within a unit.

Students may take notes using a Promethean Board, Google Docs (limit to 1 user at a time), Microsoft Word, etc.


Resource Finders

Group of students (number to be determined by teacher)

Students use customized search engine to locate additional resources and materials.

Resource team members should create a customized search engine for students to use in advance.

Eventually the responsibility for this task will be gradually released to the students, i.e. 5th Grade.


Technical Editors

Group of students or all students in class (number to be determined by teacher)

Students create a final product.

Students can present using various mediums (MAC or PC), such as WikiSpaces, GarageBand, iWeb, Pages, iMovie, Keynote, iPhoto, Inspiration, Kidspiration, etc.
